Sturridge set for Merseyside derby return
Liverpool have been handed a boost following reports that England striker, Daniel Sturridge could be feet for next week’s Merseyside derby against Everton.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers revealed that the England forward has recovered well and should be back in full training next week in time for the game against city rivals, Everton.
“Daniel is doing well and is out on the field doing some work. He should hopefully be back training at some point next week and will have a chance for the derby.
“We wouldn’t rush him back because of one game. Unless he’s fit enough to produce for us then I wouldn’t rush it,” Rodgers said.
Sturridge suffered a thigh injury while training with the England national team earlier in the month. It was initially reported that the striker will likely miss three weeks of action but it appears he has recovered ahead of schedule.
